FX Tools - Dynamics Tool for Maya

The latest release has just had an edit to where the help guide can be found. I will have time soon update the tool soon - iron out a few of the bugs!

Latest version of the tool

I have uploaded the latest version of the tool - 03/10/13. I will eventually make a dedicated site so it is easier to bug track and fix.

ICM Studios FX Tools 0.3.3. it is not completely done but it works :)
This build includes a fix for the bug that stopped the tool working if there was already a locator named locator1.

Previous build

Right click and save this file. then put it in your scripts directory. This file is for the latest version 0.3 userSetup.mel

How to install FX Tools

Below is a quick video tutorial showing you how to install FX Tools :)

I also got a chance to make some updates to the tool, here is a video of some of these updates in action:

It is free to download and use - all we ask is that you credit ICM Studios if you use the tool. All you need to do is add a userSetup.mel file in the maya scripts directory and source the FX_Tools_EffectsMenu.mel I will update this blog every time there is a new release of the tool. I hope you enjoy it :)

Hi leslie,

I have uploaded an example userSetup.mel file to the blog post. see if that works and let me know. You need to save the file to:
C:\Users\computer name\Documents\maya\2012-x64\scripts\

Hello, I'm using Maya 2009 and I'm loading FX Tools v.0.3.1 with the userSetup.mel, the new menu of FX Tool appears with the Bubble Tool, but when I click it I get this error message...

// Error: Too many children in layout: frameLayout9.

Do I have to use an earlier version of the FX Tool or what can I do to solve it?

Thanks

Hi Gilberto,

Sorry for the late reply, I have had quite a busy month! not an excuse though. There is version 3.2 out now. Let me know if this fixes your bug. If not, can you let me know the process you go through to get the error please.

I really dont understand how I install this. Im sure there is a standard method but I dont know it or even what to search to work it out.

As I understand it I put the files included in the download into my

C:\Users\computer name\Documents\maya\2012-x64\scripts\

But then what?
What does this things about

source "ICMSTUDIOS-0.3.1/FX_Tools_EffectsMenu.mel";

Mean?

Also thanks for these amazing looking tools, you are a champ! Only wish I had the knowledge to figure out how to work them XD
